Abstract: This study undertakes a rigorous critical-theoretical examination of the dystopian genre, interrogating the ideological functions performed by its canonical and contemporary manifestations. Tracing the genre's historical trajectory – from its early twentieth-century emergence through its consolidation and subsequent transformations – the analysis spans seminal works including Yevgeny Zamyatin's “We” (1924), Aldous Huxley's “Brave New World” (1932), Anthony Burgess's “A Clockwork Orange” (1962), and Suzanne Collins's “The Hunger Games” trilogy (2008–2010). Through this diachronic framework, the inquiry elucidates how distinct historical conjunctures have variously enabled or foreclosed particular political imaginaries within dystopian narrative, revealing the genre's dynamic engagement with the ideological contradictions of modernity and late capitalism.
