Проблемы взаимоотношения региональных и общенациональных элементов в формировании стандартной лексики канадского варианта английского языка

Abstract

The article deals with the study of Canadian English Vocabulary as a complex multi-level unity, which is not only influenced in its formation by the traits o f interrelating basic variants - American English and British English, but is also enriched at the expense of its own national resources. Canadian English possesses the standard vocabulary whose cultural dominants do not belong to any particular territory, but stem from many regions of the country. The present work has for its purpose to reveal and to describe the mosaic of paradigmatic semantic relations into which the locally marked Canadian English vocabulary units enter to form a dynamic, distinct system of its own.
