| Abstract: | The article deals with such a scarcely developed area of linguistics as metaphoric extension and studies the mechanism of expressing evaluative meanings in a metaphorical structure. Different types of evaluative extended metaphors including «mixed metaphors» have been analyzed. The research proves the hypothesis that negative evaluative metaphors dominate over positive metaphors in speech. |
