| Abstract: | The effects of a differentiated approach providing an adequate and consistent exposition of the elements constituting the conceptual field of ‘narcotics’ in odern English are systematized in the paper. The description of structural patterns and semantic implications of the constituents forming the above field in the terms of cognitive studies is based on the study of linguistic units naming narcotics in English. |
