The increase in the cost of agricultural insurance in Mexico, a consequence of climate change

Abstract

With the effects of global warming and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, this article aims to analyze and explore the effects on the management of agricultural risks in Mexico, this is because for its particular geography and climate is generally affected by climatological disasters, such as droughts, desertification, hurricanes, among others, here agricultural insurance is part of risk management [1]. In particular, they contribute to managing the dangers inherent in the agricultural food value chain, stabilizing the income and encouraging investment, helping to protect producers against the effects of adverse weather events that affect production and offering coverage against deviations. Like other insurance, agricultural insurance allows the transfer of risk to international reinsurance markets [2].
