Abstract:	A numerical technique for calculating the hydrodynamic performance characteristics of face seals with microgrooves is presented. The numerical technique is based on the finite volume method and takes into account the influence of inertia forces, the complex shape of seal gap and the phenomenon of vaporization in a working fluid of a face seal.
