dc.description.abstractThe work presents a comprehensive analysis of contemporary Russian and foreign publications (France, China, Japan, USA and others) in journal bearings area. As a result, has been identified main trends in the development of fluid journal bearings. These include the transition to non-classical liquids as the working fluid and the working surfaces texturing as a method to improve the bearing performance (including friction reduction). The main trend is to improve computational theories and techniques of journal bearings design process. Continuous development of computers allows taking into account turbulence phenomena and multi-phase nature of working fluid, which significantly improves the accuracy of calculation models. The approach of creating new journal bearing designs and high-precision calculating methods should be comprehensive and include theoretical and experimental stages.
